In the latest issue of University of Virginia Magazine I wrote an investigative food history story on the infamous grillswith, a 756-calorie dish involving two grilled doughnuts and a scoop of ice cream that originated from the University Diner and still exists at various restaurants in Charlottesville today. The greasy dish was known as a hangover cure and a good way to soak up booze after a night of gallivanting. Read the story here.
