For two years I worked as a newspaper designer for Media General’s daily and weekly papers in Virginia and North Carolina, where I would lay out anywhere from a handful to two dozen newspaper pages each day. Working in newspaper design opened my eyes to the way that content is presented — how to make something aesthetically appealing while presenting it in a truthful, straight-forward manner.

While I no longer do page design for newspapers, I still dabble in graphic design, helping out the University of Richmond’s Modlin Center with the design for their marketing materials. As the former communications manager for Visual Arts Center of Richmond, I designed their marketing materials from course catalogs to posters.
